History of Clan Wolf (in Exile)

Clan Wolf (in Exile) was born following the devastating Refusal War between Clan Jade Falcon and Clan Wolf in 3057. In the four years since, the Wolves (in Exile) have rebuilt themselves into a viable force dedicated to preserving the Inner Sphere from the predations of the Clans.

The Refusal War was instigated by Wolf Supremacist seeking to renew the invasion. They charged ilKhan Ulric Kerensky with genocide, by virtue of denying an entire generation of warriors the necessary combat skills needed to survive. ilKhan Kerensky forced the matter to the Grand Council where he would have more control over coming events.

The Clans voted to oust ilKhan Ulric, but he proved more wily than they had anticipated. the ilKhan forced a Trial of Refusal and the Jade Falcons won the right to battle the Wolves. Jade Falcon Khan Elias Crichell, confident of his Falcons' superiority, expected an easy victory. He was stunned to learn that Ulric planned a massive assault on the Jade Falcon holdings, with the ultimate goal of capturing the Falcon's Inner Sphere capital of Wotan. Furious at the perceived deception, Khan Crichell made quick preparations for the coming attack.

The battles between the Falcons and Wolves were noted for their unyielding brutality. The Wolves decimated numerous Falcon garrison and front-line Clusters, while sustaining moderate  losses. To further damage the Wolves Crusader cause, he transferred all warriors with Crusader leanings into the newly formed Tau Galaxy. All of the Wardens were sent to Task Forces led by Khans Natasha and Phalen. Khan Phelan, much to his dismay, was ordered by Khan Natasha and Ulric to split off his Warden units and head towards the Inner Sphere and set up a new Wolf Clan. Khan Phelan's force arrived at Morges shortly after Archon Katrina Steiner-Davion split the Lyran Alliance away from the Federated Commonwealth.

Sadly, Khan Natasha Kerensky, the Black Widow, died in battle on the planet Twycross against the Falcon Guards. Ulric Kerensky was killed in an ambush on Wotan while leading the final Wolf assault against the Falcon capital.

Meanwhile, Khan Phelan and his Wolf forces, reinforced by the mercenary Kell Hounds, engaged in a brutal battle against two Jade Falcon Galaxies, Vau and Omega. The Wolves were victorious but at a heavy cost.

The Refusal War split the Wolf Clan into two distinct entities: one Crusader, the other Warden. Khan Phelan led his forces to Arc-Royal, his homeworld, and began the process of rebuilding. Over the next few months additional units arrived to bolster his forces. The Wolf (in Exile) touman contained two frontline and one garrison Galaxy by the end of 3058.

The next three years saw a steady growth in the Wolf (in Exile) fortunes. The alliance with the Kell Hounds provided the Wolves with the needed tech base to rebuild their society. Now located on Arc-Royals largely uninhabited southern continent, the Wolves rebuilt their genetic repository and began construction of all the necessary facilities to bring them back up to strength.

The Wolves built a new 'Mech factory with the aid of the Kell Hounds and, by late 3058, producing the Artic Wolf and Pack Hunter second-line BattleMechs. The Wolf Clan scientists and technicians also helped the Kell Hounds to produce their own light OmniMech, the Arctic Fox.

Operation Bulldog

The Tharkad Conference of 3058 brought about a united Successor State front for the first time since the fall of the Star League. The new Star League had one goal: the destruction of Clan Smoke Jaguar. Though pressed by several of leaders, Khan Phelan refused to divulge the location of the Clan homeworlds. He did commit several of his best Clusters to Operation Bulldog.

The Wolves saw limited action during the operation. Their primary action came on Port Arthur, where they fought the rebuilt Sixth Jaguar Dragoons. The Wolves, caught unprepared by the Jaguar's lack of resistance, fought a Trial of Possession and won control over the entire Cluster. The unit would later be renamed the Sixth Wolf Guards.

Later, when the Jaguars did the unprecedented act of retreating from their occupation zone, Khan Phelan offered to lend troops to Prince Victor Steiner-Davion to partake in the final destruction of the Smoke Jaguars. Victor, however, decided to lead an Inner Sphere-only task force to the Clan homeworlds and tasked Phelan with keeping an eye on his sister, Katherine Steiner-Davion.

Recent Events

The rise of Katherine Steiner-Davion came in a fashion which effectively prevented Phelan from stopping her. Her manipulation of political polls severely undermined Yvonne Steiner-Davion's leadership. Yvonne, caught up in her own insecurities, asked Katherine for help. Katherine responded by taking control over the whole of the Lyran Alliance and Federated Commonwealth.

Unable to prevent Katherine's ascension, Phelan turned his attention to the Ghost Bear's Exodus. Through his own sources, Khan Phelan learned of the contents of one of the Ghost Bear's ark ships. The massive Leviathan-class transport was bringing an entire OmniMech factory to the Inner Sphere. Upon its arrival at Utrecht, Khan Phelan declared a Trial of Possession for the ship's contents. The Fourth Wolf Guards Assault Cluster fought a fierce battle with the Ghost Bear's Third Bear Guards. The Wolves handily beat the Third Guards, but lost Star Captain Ragnar Magnusson to the Ghost Bears.

The Wolves have remained idle the last year, opting to spending their time training new sibko's and rebuilding. The OmniMech factory is to come online soon and should reach full production capacity within a year.

Front-line Unit Summary

The Refusal War split the mighty Clan Wolf and left the Wolves (in Exile) with minimal support and personnel. Khan Phelan's alliance with the mercenary Kell Hounds has vastly improved the Clan's fortunes. Khan Phelan has allowed Clan technicians and scientists to upgrade the Kell-owned Eire BattleMech factory and produce limited quantities of weapons, armor and other equipment at various sites across Arc-Royal. Additionally, the Lupus Major space station is heavily involved in endo-steel and ferro-fibrous production.

The recent Trial of Possession against Clan Ghost Bear has netted the Wolves (in Exile) an entire 'Mech production facility and sufficient other materiel to bring the Clan up to strength in a few years.

At present, Clan Wolf (in Exile) fields two front-line and one garrison Galaxy's. A second garrison Galaxy, Epsilon, is being formed, but it will be some time before its Clusters are at full strength.
