Librarianship -- My second master's degree was in the area of Library Science. For more than 20 years I have worked in libraries of increasing size as the manager of the Technical Services Department. A number of years ago the American Library Association published a small pamphlet I wrote (now out of print), which can be found in the catalog of the Library of Congress as well as in bibliographic utilities (such as OCLC) and in the catalogs of other libraries. Several library and musical publications I wrote or co-wrote appear in other library databases.

Computer Programming -- I taught myself BASIC programming around 1975 and have been using that as my "native" programming language ever since. I'm currently learning and using Visual Basic in order to program effectively in the Windows environment. I've also programmed in 8080 assembler, Alpha Micro WD16 re-entrant assembler, and a little 80x86 assembler, Pascal, and C. I'd like to learn Visual C++ someday, but finding time is always a challenge. I've done a lot with MS-DOS batch files, too. My main BASIC applications have been either personal utilities (mostly file conversion and data manipulation) or library-related software, both commercial (through my own software business on the side) and noncommercial.

Music -- My undergraduate major was in music (particularly music theory and composition), and I have a large collection of books, scores, and sound recordings. My master's degree specialized in composition, and my thesis was a cantata on the Easter hymn "I Know that My Redeemer Lives!" A number of my choral compositions and short organ works have been published. For many years I have also been interested in synthesizers and electronic music, and I enjoy playing MIDI files through my Soundblaster AWE64 sound card and/or my various Yamaha synthesizers and keyboard.
Worship and Worship Music -- My first master's degree was in the area of Church Music. During a period of over 30 years I have directed choirs and played organ for worship services.

Food -- The survival of humankind depends upon the pleasure brought by food and sex. Here are some food and recipe sites on the Internet for your pleasure and mine. (The number of links here compared to those under my other interests probably indicates how engrossing this topic is to me.)
