Thanksgiving is coming! The sign up sheet for our Thanksgiving Soup Kitchen is in Ludtke hall. This is a great opportunity to serve as a thanks to God for all your blessings. If you have never served at the Soup Kitchen this is the perfect time to start! (And for those of you who have to work during our regular Soup Kitchen dates, you can take advantage of the day off to lend your hand to this worthy cause.) Contact Liz Ryan or Barbara Ross for more information.

Stewardship Committee Meeting - The next meeting is Sunday, November 23, after the late service. We will meet in Ludtke Hall.

Formation Time Change! In an effort to make the schedule time and reality work together, beginning Nov. 30th the Formation classes will start at 10:15am and run till 11:15am when children will be brought to Ludtke Hall where the Ushers will retrieve them at the Peace.

The Order of St. Luke will hold its next meeting on Thursday, December 4, 2008, at 7:00 p.m. in the church parlor. Anyone interested in learning about healing prayer or in joining this ministry is welcome to attend. People interested in receiving healing prayer should join the meeting at 8:00 p.m. Questions? Please call Fr. Bill Kruse at 630-208-6405 or Dick Hattan at 630-208-1978.

Ingathering Update: Thank you to all who returned pledge cards. If you have forgotten to return your card, please mail it as soon as possible. The Stewardship and Finance Committees will review the data and and issue an update.

Are you wearing your name tag? Anyone who needs a name tag can sign up on the clipboard in the hallway directly outside the sanctuary. We will make new name tags this week so Joyce can put names with faces! Visitors can find blank name tags in the same hallway on the welcome table.

Have a Special Event you are planning? Please contact Kathy Heikkinen if you would like any special events included on our new "Special Events" calendar in Ludtke Hall.

NETS for LIFE – The Bishop's Challenge. Our Bishop has challenged every Episcopalian to help us save 200,000 lives before Christmas this year. How can we do that? Donate one $12 treated mosquito net that will be sent to our partners in Africa through Episcopal Relief and Development. In exchange, you will receive a beautiful gift card telling your friends and relatives that you have given a net in their name this Christmas. Who wants that fruitcake again this year anyway? Questions? Please see Katie Thomson or Deacon Liz. Buy a net, save a life!

Adult Formation Class began their study of the book of Revelation on Sunday, September 14th. The class meets in the south end of Ludtke Hall from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM. A study book, BREAKING THE CODE: UNDERSTANDING THE BOOK OF REVELATION by Bruce M Metzger is available for $10.00 from Phil Dripps who is conducting the weekly sessions.

Love Flowers? - Sign up to serve on the Flower Guild. The 2008 chart is on the wall in the back entrance hall.

Join the Coffee Hour Team - Please sign up to share in the wonderful ministry of food and fellowship that is our Coffee Hour. When you sign up, you are signing up to help with setting up for and cleaning up after your chosen service, as well as providing delicious treats for all to share. This is especially important after the late service since few people remain for very long and dishes are often left to the "last man standing." When signing up, consider combining forces with another person/family/group. After all, many hands make light work! Add your name to the sign-up sheet in Ludtke Hall to make our coffee hours a true labor of love for all who partake.

We Need Your Time and Talent Please consider joining us once a month when we take our shifts at Hesed House from 11PM to 7 AM on the third Friday of the month. See the sheet in Ludke Hall or connect with Phil Dripps or Wink Bangs.

If you can't work a late night shift, please consider cash donations. Please see the food display in Ludtke Hall and share in the support of our ministry at Hesed House by donating at least $5. For about $125 each month we feed 120 people breakfast and make 80-100 sack lunches each month. Details? wdbangsjr[at]aol[dot]com.

New Gift Card Fundraiser – Just shop, dine and play where you usually do! Order sheets and additional information available in Ludtke Hall.

New! No fuss fundraiser - GoodSearch.com is an internet search engine (like Google or Yahoo or MSN) which has a heart. They donate to the charity of your choice each time you use them. St. Charles' Episcopal Church is now on their list of verified charities. Please go to www.goodsearch.com and search away! (You can set GoodSearch as your default search engine by following directions on the homepage.)

Prayer Boards in Ludtke Hall. If you missed a week and want to know more information about the prayer requests, just look in the white binder labeled "Prayer Concerns" that is located just below the prayer board. There is also a new bulletin board in the corner that has our military information as well as blank letterhead for you to write a note to one of our military members.

Did we miss your birthday? If your name (or that of a family member) was not in the Prayers of the People on the week of your birthday it could be that we need information for our database. Please fill out a database form which can be found in the "Joining our Church Community" booklet on the table under the prayer board in Ludtke Hall and then put it in the offering plate or the office mail slot near the parlor. We don't want to miss your special day!

We will continue our prayers for those in the military, if you have a family member who is on active duty please call the office and we will add them to our list.
